How to play Pick 3
Choose three digits, each from 0 to 9. The same digit may be used more than once. Per OLG, plays cost $1, $2, $5 or $10, and there are two ways to match:
- Straight play — your digits must match the drawn sequence in exact order to win the Top Prize.
- Box play — your digits match in any order for a smaller prize.
The Pick 3 Top Prize is pari-mutuel: it pays 50% of that draw's prize pool, so the amount varies by draw. You can add Encore for $1 at checkout. See OLG's official Pick 3 page for current payouts and game conditions.

There are exactly 1,000 possible sequences (000–999) and each is equally likely in every draw. These figures are fixed mathematics, not estimates.
Why order changes everything here
Most lotteries on this site draw a set: six unique balls where order carries no information. Pick 3 is the opposite — an ordered sequence where position is the whole game. That has three practical consequences:
- 5-3-7 ≠ 7-3-5. The same three digits in a different order are a different Straight result.
- Repeats are normal. Each position is drawn independently, so doubles and even triples occur at exactly predictable rates.
- Zero is a digit. The range is 0–9, and a leading zero counts like any other digit.
This is why our Pick 3 statistics are computed per position — which digit lands in slot 1, slot 2, slot 3 — rather than as one global frequency list.

What time are Pick 3 draws in Ontario?
OLG holds two Pick 3 draws every day: a Midday draw at 2:00 PM Eastern Time and an Evening draw at 10:30 PM Eastern Time.
What are the odds of winning Pick 3 with a Straight play?
A Straight play matches the three digits in exact drawn order. There are 1,000 possible sequences (000 through 999), so the odds are 1 in 1,000 — identical for every sequence, every draw.
Does the order of the digits matter in Pick 3?
Yes. Pick 3 is an ordered game: 5-3-7 and 7-3-5 are different results. A Straight play requires the exact order; a Box play wins if your digits appear in any order.
Can the same digit be drawn more than once?
Yes. Each of the three positions is drawn independently from 0–9, so repeated digits are routine — a draw like 4-4-1 or even 7-7-7 is a normal outcome.
